welcome to Imagine It Entertainment
We specialize in professional film scanning of 8mm, Super 8, 16mm S16mm and 35mm film at 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of a Hollywood movie studio. We not only offer the latest 2K (2048×1556) and 4K (4096x2160) scanning, but have created a new ProHD service (scanned at 2K, down converted to HD) at a lower price point for those looking for the best HD video possible without the 2K price.
In addition, we offer revolutionary Dust Busting services performed during scanning without the side effects of older methods like wet gate or infra red detection and replacement. The dust busting technology will be able to repair an estimated 95% of defects (scratches, dust, dirt) on the film and in addition will provide a defect map for further off-line dust busting if necessary. In most cases further dust busting will not be necessary.
Our new ProHD film scanning service scans the 16mm, S16mm and 35mm film at 2K and down converts it to provide the best quality HD video possible. 8mm and Super 8 film are only scanned at HD resolution since this surpasses the resolution of the film. Our optional dust busting service will remove the majority of scratches, dust and dirt at scanning time without the side affects of a wet gate or infra red detection and replacement.
Our professional 2k (2048×1556) and 4K (4096x2160) film scanning service scans 16mm, S16mm and 35mm film to DPX files. We can also author the content to DVD or BluRay, or provide more manageable editing formats like HD-AVI or Apple ProRes HQ for editing today as opposed to the DPX files which are not easily edited on todays PCs or Macs.
16mm, S16mm and 35mm film to DPX, DVD and BluRay are the most common film transfers we perform. Our 8mm and Super 8 film scanner is considered the best in the industry. You wont find a better quality pin registered 2k or 4k scan of your film at our price point.
Some customer may be wondering just how much information is actually on film. 8mm and Super 8 film have a maximum resolution of 1000 horizontal lines. Older 16mm film has around 1500 to 2000 horizontal lines. Newer 16mm and S16mm can have up to 3000 lines of resolution. Older 35mm film has up to 4000 lines while newer 35mm film can have in excess of 6000 lines. A 2K scan (2048 vertical ×1556 horizontal) will get around 1500 horizontal lines from the film. 4K (4096 vertical by 2160 horizontal) will get around 2100 lines. So, you can see that to truly archive 8mm or Super 8 film you have to scan it at HD resolution. To archive 16mm film a 2k or 4K scan is required. A 4K scan will get the majority of resolution on older 35mm film.
